The Spring Festival continues here in China. I’ve never seen Kunming so empty. There are a handful of stores open. The buses are running. Pharmacies are open. The big box stores are open. But mostly it’s really very, very quiet here. Nights are still peppered with fireworks going off until the wee hours. Quite beautiful, but noisy.
Jeremy’s been on a few expeditions to some of the temples just outside the city. Not surprisingly, he’s produced a new movie!

we only heard fireworks around our home on sunday evening..
is it quiet because everyone’s gone to bigger cities or holidays?
.. yes, we these ‘wire fighting’ machines sometimes pop up at car boots round here… i find them kinda entertaining when the child loses steam… and they just end up hanging there if no one gives em a push..
i love you!
i miss you!
cool beans
I like the video! My compliments. Do you have a list anyplace of others he’s done? I feel like I miss alot of what happens despite living here… :) I’ve mixed feelings on these fireworks… Yes, they’re fun and a great way of celebrating for the Chinese. But I’m personally a little gun-shy of things going bang. And just the other day riding home by bicycle a little girl lit a firecracker and tossed it at me, about head level. She wasn’t being mean or trying to do anything bad. Yet I can just imagine if it had gone off right next to my head instead of blowing up just behind me as I rode ahead – I could be blind today. Not sure what my point is or what I would change, but still not comfortable with it all. :)
